Darryl Sterdan of Canada's Toronto Sun recently conducted an interview with SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor. A few excerpts from the chat follow below.
Toronto Sun: Why do you still live in Des Moines? Shouldn't you be closer to where the action is?
Taylor:
This has been my home for so long. My family lives here, my friends
live here, my kids were born here. I have a place in L.A., but this is
my hub. This is the place that feels like home. I can come back and
just be me, just remember why I do it and find the hunger again,
basically. A lot of people move away from what inspired them in the
first place. That takes the edge off their music, it takes a lot of the
attitude out of it. I want to stay where I've got inspiration around me
all the time.

SLIPKNOT have been named double winners at the first ever Epiphone Revolver Golden Gods Awards.
The masked rockers won Best Riff and Best Live Band honours in the hard
rock and heavy metal prizegiving at Club Nokia in Los Angeles on
Tuesday (07Apr09).
Other awards went to Metallica (Best Album), Dethklok (Best
International Band) and Hellyeah's Vinnie Paul (Most Awesomely Good
Drummer), and there were high honours for Megadeth's Dave Mustaine
(Golden God Award) and Ozzy Osbourne (Lifetime Achievement).
Meanwhile, Motley Crue star Nikki Sixx's tattooist girlfriend Kat
Von D was named Honorary Headbanger and Isis took home the Best
Underground Metal Band prize.

Taylor
caused a stir in January when he revealed plans to make his first solo
album sometime in the next year. The biggest question for fans was what
would happen with Taylor's other group, STONE SOUR, whose last effort, "Come What(ever) May", surfaced in 2006. Taylor told The Pulse of Radio
that he's keeping his priorities straight when it comes to new
projects. "I think what got people up in arms is the fact that, you
know, it was a question of what was going to come first, solo album or STONE SOUR?" he said.
